With this work the artist is dealing with the moment between sleeping and waking. With the start of the full-scale Russo-Ukrainian war, Bohdana experienced severe sleep disturbances, including hypnopompia, hallucinations that occur in the most fragile phase of sleep, just before waking up. For months she woke up in a state of absolute peace and tranquility that lasted for a couple of seconds, convinced that the war was just a nightmare. However, soon enough she was shuttered again by the painful reality.
During her research into this phenomenon, she had many conversations with people from different backgrounds who shared similar sleep experiences. With her installation Bohdana is recreating the liminal space between the sleep and wakefulness.
She invites the readers to enter and touch the fabric of waking dreams.
